South Carolina Day of Percussion 2007

S.C. Percussive Arts Society
"Day of Percussion"

  On Saturday, April 14th, Clemson University will host the 2007 SCPAS Day of Percussion at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts in Clemson, SC.  The day will feature clinics by Scott Herring, Everett Beale, and Michael Spiro, concerts by the Clemson Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band, and free door prize and literature give-aways throughout the day from the percussion industry. 

Middle school, high school, and college percussionists, percussion educators, and drumming enthusiasts are all invited to attend!  We hope you will join us and experience the spirit of PAS by catching up with old friends, making new ones, and sharing our passion for percussion.  Admission is $5 for PAS members and $10 for non-members.  To join PAS, visit www.pas.org.

Greg Bissonette* – Drum Set

    * Gregg Bissonette is best known for his ability to play in a wide variety of styles. Gregg has played with Joe Satriani, Gino Vannelli, Tania Maria, Brian Wilson, Robin Zander, David Lee Roth, Ringo Starr, James Taylor, Toto, Ray Charles, Don Henley, Santana and many others.
 

Mark Ford* – Marimba

     *    Mark Ford is a virtuoso marimbist and currently the coordinator of percussion activities at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He is a marimba specialist and has been a featured performer/clinician throughout the states at universities and at music conference throughout the world.

 The NCPAS “Day of Percussion” will include:

1.  Nationally acclaimed percussionists presenting clinics and performances.

2.  Performances by percussion ensembles from leading colleges and high schools from across North  and South Carolina.

3.  Mock orchestra audition, with prizes.

4. FUNdamentals clinics will offer beginning level instruction for younger students.

5.  Many door prizes will offer each attendee the chance to win sticks, mallets, cymbals or more.

 
Admission only $5.00 per student, $10.00 per adult.  Free admission to PAS members with valid PAS ID.

2008 Mid-Missouri Percussion Arts Trophy The category of competition for the 2008 trophy is: Solo Marimba The competition will be held on March 1, 2008, at the Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon, Missouri. The 6 winners of the competition receive trophies, and the top 2 competitors in each division will have the opportunity to perform and be critiqued at the Master Class, led this year by the Competition's guest artist, Leigh Howard Stevens. There are two divisions of competition: the High School Division (grades 9-12) and the Collegiate Division (freshman through graduate student.) All competitors have automatic admission to all Competition events, including the competition proper, the awards ceremony, the Master Class, and the evening concert. Competitors do not need to be studying/residing in the state of Missouri to compete.
