Perc Up! 2004 - A Unique Day Of Percussion Event

Eastside High School Percussion will host Perc Up! 2004, a unique percussion event which combines percussion clinics, workshops, leadership training, percussion concerts and an informal percussion competition.

Featured clinicians are Jeff Queen, Greg Dearman, Thom Hannum, and more.  (We have heard through the grapevine, other known clinicians and percussion instructors will drop by to lend a hand.)  There will definitely be some surprises!

Perc Up will primarily focus on marching percussion, however concert percussion and world percussion will be demonstrated too!

Coastal Carolina University will be performing in the percussion showcase demonstrating Japanese Taiko percussion.  Furman University is planning to present a Cuban influenced percussion ensemble.   Jeff Queen will be performing his world championship snare drum solo in both the clinic and in the percussion showcase concert in the evening.  Both Jeff Queen and Thom Hannum will be performing an eye popping, ear pleasing duet!

The morning percussion sessions are clinics with topics like percussion technique, leadership, teamwork, front ensemble, etc.

Band Directors, percussion instructors or staff, will attend a gourmet coffee and dessert forum discussing relevant, helpful topics.  Topics include college percussion audition preparation for students, finding or making more time, fund raising, building a better tradition, delegation, improving site reading, percussion literature, winter guard, and more.

Afternoon rehearsals will team area schools and players to create fresh "all star" ensembles for evening showcase performances.  The students will learn to apply their clinic information "on the spot."  Scheduled observation and coaching from clinicians will help them "pull it off!"  These Master class style sessions will help students improve with hands on help.
